Previous member of London University Examination Committee, Phd. Examiner at Manchester Univ., and prize adjucator for the Royal Society of Medicine. Author or editor of 5 books, including a textbook (2 editions) which was recommended reading by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and Editor in Chief for Bailliere's Clinical Psychiatry series (11 vols). Publications include many book chapters and about 200 Scientific papers and Editorials, including publications on depression and psychiatric reactions to stress.
Invited presentations at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Royal Society of Medicine, the Maudsley Hospital, foreign meetings and institutions, and British Medical Schools and Universities.
Initiated and ran courses for the British Postgraduate Federation at 3 Teaching Hospitals and for the Medical Research Council, video teaching material and a rating scale prepared for the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Referee for several psychiatric journals and the British Medical Journal. Member Editorial Board, British Journal of Medical Practitioners.
